About
Our Mission
The Grand Canal Kayak Challenge was started in 2018 by a few buddies with the simple goal of enjoying the outdoors while taking on a mild physical trial...along with a few beers.
Since then, the Challenge has blossomed into a robust event with participation growing in leaps and bounds each season!
With such fervent interest in the shameless fun of the Challenge itself, we decided to do a little good along the way. Therefore, we added a fundraising element for mental health awareness in support of NAMI Delaware. There are too many people quietly struggling with mental health conditions. NAMI works tirelessly to ease their pain and save lives!
The Lewes-Rehoboth Canal runs through the heart of the greater Cape Henlopen area, and not only acts as a thoroughfare, but also is a prime location for enjoying an underappreciated slice of nature.

NAMI Delaware
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization. Grand Canal Kayak Challenge is committed to aiding in the constant battle for those struggling with mental illness. The Challenge is a community building event and thus dovetails nicely with the mission of NAMI. Any amount you can donate here will be sent to NAMI after the close of the fundraiser (the day of the Challenge).
